Curious about what goes on in the compost bins once you drop off your food scraps? Come review the basics of hot composting in the Q Gardens 9-bin system through the data our new sensor produces on a daily basis! Dive into compost and share hot chocolate with us and @weradiateny this Sunday, December 15th from 2-3:30pm at the garden. Check out our calendar for full event details and be sure to RSVP at the link in our bio - see you there!
This tea bag may look shiny and inviting, but new research shows that a single plastic tea bag releases 11.6 BILLION #microplastics into your tea cup. Holy cow! We fished this one out of the compost today... no composting these bags either :( When shopping, look out for teas that say their bags are 100% compostable or go for the loose leaf! #zerowaste #endplasticpollution #endtheinsanity
We’ve got ready sifted compost — 640 pounds of it! This compost has been long in the making and a lot of volunteer effort— human and other 🐍🕷🐌— has gone into it— thanks to all who made it possible! Free for individuals; $20 a 40 lb bag suggested for projects with a budget— all donations go to garden projects! #communitycomposting #compostvolunteers #fallcompost
Thank you to @citizenscommittee for organizing a perfect fall QG workday with volunteers from #bbcstudios! We sifted tons of compost, hauled leftover (repurposed) wood to a curious place known as a #wastetransferstation, and installed some beautiful solar panels 🌞 🌞 Yesss! 🌻🦋 #communitygardening #communitysolar #manyhandsmakelightwork
This Monday morning longtime compost volunteer introduced a group of students from John Dewey High School to the ins and outs of community composting— and apparently an excellent time was had by all! Thanks to them and their teacher Wayne Moody for all the sifting help and good vibes! Best of luck setting up your own John Dewey High School compost system! #communitycomposting #composteducation
A few glimpses of our soup out, fundraiser & honey-tasting today...thanks to everyone who made it out! And to the skies for ending the downpour just in time. What a beautiful afternoon it turned out to be :) #communitygathering #fallfestivities
