Welcome

Welcome to the online home of Q Gardens, a community garden located in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn currently in the planning stages. Q Gardens consists of a group of neighbors who have joined together to turn a neglected, unused and un-developable lot into a beautiful green open space that will provide:

  • A space for children and adults to learn about gardening
  • A space for children and adults to participate in the process of planning and carrying out garden-related activities, including: sowing, weeding, watering, and harvesting
  • A local source of fresh, organically grown vegetables and herbs
  • A place for children and adults to experience and enjoy a safe, green space in their community

The site for the garden is Brooklyn block 5078, lot 32, which is located on East 18th Street between Church Ave and Caton Ave, behind the southern entrance to the Church Avenue stop on the NYC Transit Brighton line. The rough address of the lot is 70 East 18th St.

Our hope is for this site to become the online home for the garden and the go-to resource for the community to visit to learn more about the garden, its members, and how to get involved or plan a visit to the space. And be sure to visit the Friends of Q Gardens page to learn more about our neighbors and friends, who have been immeasurably helpful and supportive in our quest to make Q Gardens a reality.
